As a child psychologist, Carine Harbers has spent her whole career as school psychologist for children at primary school. This extrovert, charismatic woman is very happy to put her experience at work for the chlidren at Mai Nha.
“I know quite well behavioral, psychological and schooling/cognitive issues which children face at an age at which they attend primary school. I also worked a lot with children with special schooling needs. What I like about Mai Nha is the personalized and high quality approach: far remote from the standardized solutions, the Mai Nha team in Vietnam identifies what’s most appropriate for every single child.”
Carine operates in cooperation with Vietnam-based Dr Thanh for whom she has deep respect and by doing this she allows the local team to benefit from her expertise. As an example, she analyzed in detail the test results regarding the degree of development of each of the 16 children in the area of communication, autonomy, socialization and motor skills and subsequently has asked specific questions and provided recommendations which Dr Thanh, as the local expert, is able to integrate in her final recommendations, decisions and actions in areas such as stimulation enhancing games and activities.
"There is no doubt about it that the children at Mai Nha are loved and cared for. But the existing team is very focussed on their day to day activities and don’t necessarily have the required expertise and skill sets to analyze the situation. So I am delighted to be able to contribute in a positive way by making simple recommendations which from my point of view should generate positive results in the short and medium term."
